Title: "Like tying a stone in a sling..." Prove

I was astounded to come across a direct reference to slinging while rereading Proverbs:

Like tying a stone in a sling
is the giving of honor to a fool.
Proverbs 26:8

Whoa, I never picked that up before, and it flies below the radar of most concordances.

There are few things more irritating than wasting effort, muscle fibers and finger ligaments on a throw with a stone "terminally fouled" in the thongs.
And here Solomon himself nails it!

Well, if that's the way things are, then it will be a while before I'll be giving honor to any fools.

Steve

If that includes honoring them by even responding to them at all....then I am surely a fool as well.....although I believe somewhere the word of God advises us to publicly rebuke the fool.

Two of my favorites:

"A fool does not care whether he understands a thing or not; all he wants to do is to show how clever he is." (Prov.18:2)

And

"A fool quoting a wise saying reminds you of a drunk trying to pick a thorn out of his hand." (Prov. 26:9)

Peace,
