Title: sling pic
Post by Zorrro on Jul 25th, 2004 at 12:06pm
Finally here's a pic  of the sling i'm currently using...this is also an attempt  of how to post embedded pics.  :D

Ahem... well...  i see it's a huge one...
This is braided with 3 nylon 5 mm cords of aprox. 6 yards each. (you can see the cord at the upper right corner) cord is white, but due to intensive use, (and no washing :P ) sling turned grey-brown... this is made the same as balearic ones and it's how sheppards do here in the south of spain too.
By accident in the upper right corner there is my "Ulu" eskimo knife used by skimo women for cooking, slicing, skinning, gutting, cutting skins for dressing  and lot of other "ings"
I made it out of a wide bricklayer's shovel with a dremel and the handles are quick epoxi putty  I've used it for gutting and slicing some tuna fish, slicing vegetables, cooking, and skinning some cow, and is cool once you get used to it, cause at 1st is very differen to handle than ordinary knives. I'll post another pic of the ulu in the  other primative weapons section.

Nice pic. Thanks for sharing. Looks like a good sling. Like the ulu too. Made one myself years ago from a skillsaw blade and walnut handle, it worked fine, but someone wanted it more that I did, so I ended up giving it away.
